There is a primal strategy of survival and winning conditions in this game. Each team seeks to eliminate the other in order to control a town. Teamwork, communication, deduction, and deception all contribute to each player’s victory.
Depending on the player’s preference, he or she can select town, mafia, or neutral role alignment. Each player’s role is randomly assigned in this game, so how they play is determined by who they are. Mafia members aim to rid the town of all residents, while town officials aim to find and eliminate the mafia. It is not necessary for the town and mafia to have conflicting goals in relation to their neutral roles.
There are days and nights in each round of a match. Players with some roles are able to use certain abilities during the night, for instance, they can protect another player or discover their identity. The evil players may kill during the night, and all players have the option of writing notes in their will.
During the day, we learn what has been learned by accusing someone of evil. The wills of the players who died during the night are revealed the next day. The players whose will is revealed are lynched publicly if found guilty. The game continues until one side achieves the win condition.
